Features
One program for all application cases

Our DeskShare//Client
is the central component which all partners involved use. This small compact
application includes everything for a smooth workflow in different network
structures and with different operating system variants.
Easy distribution and world-wide
availability in a matter of seconds

DeskShare//Client can
be offered for passing on to customers, partners and colleagues, especially
also for downloading via the own website. Owing to the program size of only ~
250KB, this application will also be available in case of narrowband Internet
connections already after a few seconds.
No installation required

It is not necessary to install or configure DeskShare//Client.
Start it simply with one click from disk or from the Internet, and there
will be nothing to prevent the desktop connection.
Presentation mode

After the connection establishment, DeskShare® is in the presentation mode
where a partner can only view the desktop of the other one. In this mode, all
keyboard inputs of the viewer will be ignored by the remote desktop and are
therefore useless. Thus, the displayed applications on the remote desktop
cannot be operated. The mouse of the viewer cannot be used for application
control either.
Remote control mode

If the showing partner wants to give the viewer the opportunity to cooperate,
he can specifically activate mouse and keyboard of the viewer. The release can
be effected either by the corresponding button in the DeskShare® menu bar or
the [Break] key by which the release of mouse and keyboard can always be
cleared again.
Change of the working direction

By using DeskShare®, it is possible to change the working direction as often as
you like. During this process, the respective showing person is becoming the
viewer and vice versa. After the first change of the working direction, it will
also be the presentation mode that is initially active here, i. e., the
displayed remote desktop cannot be operated by the viewer.
Desktop filter

The desktop filter defines what will be displayed on the partner's
screen. In the default option, the whole screen contents will initially be
visible. Only the task bar and the task change window (Alt+Tab) are hidden and
will be displayed on the partner's desktop as blue, non-operable window areas.

Now you can select various applications whose windows are also to hide during
the DeskShare® session (e. g. calculation program, e-mail client or customer
administration). Thus, confidential matters remain on your computer also during
desktop sharing and remote support. The set desktop filter applies to all
session modes (presentation and remote control).
Click pointer

The click pointer is adapted from the classic pointer and a useful aid
that is available within the presentation mode. If a viewer clicks in the
display window by using the mouse, the showing partner will see for a few
seconds a flashing arrow in the corresponding place of his desktop. This will
give the impression as if the remote viewer would point to this place with a
pointer. An easy means of communication with great practical use!
Data exchange via the clipboard

DeskShare® supports the automatic exchange of texts via the Windows clipboard.
As soon as you have filed a passage from the text into the clipboard, it will
be available to your partner's computer. The opposite way will also be
supported by DeskShare®.
File transfer

Via the integrated file transfer, any files can be exchanged between both
computers. By using it, documents created on the remote PC can be brought to
the own PC, or service files can be exported onto a customer PC. The file
transfer always works in both directions (download/upload), independently of
the current working direction.
Automatic color tracking and progress
display

To guarantee smooth working also in case of narrowband Internet connections,
the desktop of the showing partner will be transferred in three phases to the
viewer. In doing so, changed screen areas will initially be transmitted very
fast with 8 bit (256 colors) so that the viewer can effectively see all
essential information in real-time. If there are no more considerable changes
on your desktop, DeskShare® will start to refine the corresponding screen areas
on the viewer's PC with a color depth of 16 bit (65536 colors) and to deepen
them finally to 32 bit (16.7 million colors). This "tracking" will be
visualized for both partners by the progress display.
Hidable menu bar

During a running session, the showing partner will see the DeskShare® menu bar
on the right side at the bottom of the screen. To have more space, this menu
bar can also be hidden, if necessary. Here, the corresponding symbol will be
added to the system tray, i. e., the area at the bottom right in the Windows
task bar. After a click on this icon, the menu bar will become visible again.
Automatic selection of the suitable
transfer protocol

No matter if you use the DeskShare//Client
on a computer with direct internet connection or in an intranet shielded by
proxy servers and other firewall components - by using different transfer
protocols , DeskShare® finds in more than 98 % of all cases a way to establish
the connection.
Session options

If the DeskShare//Client
finds a license file when starting the program, the extended login dialog will
open which can be used to activate additional session options, if required.
This includes, for example, defaults for the desktop filter as well as the
initial working direction.

If no license file can be found, especially in case of a download from the
Internet, another dialog will open which can only be used to enter the
DeskShare® PIN told by the partner. It is not possible to open a session
channel via this dialog.
Minimal system requirements

To be able to work with DeskShare®, you need only a commercially
available PC with Internet connection, Microsoft operating system
(Win95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista) and Microsoft Internet Explorer (from version 4).
For the operation mode of DeskShare®, it doesn't matter whether the access to
the Internet will be made via modem, ISDN, (A)DSL or stronger wideband
connections.
